What First Waves is for

First Waves is built for the least-developed learners in your classroom. The core daily goal is repetition of one loop: Calm/Not Calm -> support -> return to Calm.

Day 1 (10 minutes): Print 2 pages

Minimum kit: 2 pages. Post them where you can point quickly.

Say this:

Optional: put the Not Calm Protocol (Staff Flowchart) in your desk/planning binder for reference (not the wall kit).

Non-Negotiables (Implementation Fidelity)

Goal: Repeat one loop, many times per day: Calm/Not Calm β†’ support β†’ return to Calm.

Do NOT: negotiate ("First calm then…"), over-talk, or present the full feelings set at once.

Menu decision: start with Tier 1. Use Supported-only (+ WALK) if Tier 1 supports typically do not return the student to Calm within 60–90 seconds for most Not Calm episodes across 2–3 days.

You may notice colors in some visuals. During First Waves, do not label or teach colors to students.
